Coming soonReplacing a full set of teeth with support from implants.
Cases shared · Lessons learned
I have placed implants for many years, and I have made my share of mistakes. Some cases went better than I deserved; some taught me things I would rather have learned another way. No surgery is without risk, and every patient who trusts us is a privilege.
This site shares real cases, the good and the difficult, so colleagues can learn from them as I learned from others. These are not the only ways to treat these problems, and often not the best. They are simply what I did, what I saw, and what I would do differently.

Find your way around
Thank you for taking a look. I’m preparing cases I’m grateful to be able to share, along with the questions and lessons they left me with. Whether you work in dentistry or are simply curious, you’re welcome here. No cases have been published here yet.
Replacing a full set of teeth with support from implants.
Creating space for bone beneath the sinus in the upper jaw.
Building up bone where more support may be needed.
Placing an implant at the time a tooth is removed.
Exploring implant positions toward the back of the mouth.
Returning to a problem, and learning from what did not go as planned.
A shared structure
I’ll use the same shape for each story, so the thinking and the uncertainties are there to see. This is a guide to what’s coming, not a patient case.
Every case will explain the risk, how it was explained and managed, and what I would repeat or change. This is one way to manage it. Colleagues may choose differently, and they may be right.
I'm Andrew. I completed my BSc in Biochemistry at the University of British Columbia in 1996 and my DMD there in 1997, followed by hospital dentistry in Vancouver. I later became a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). From 2000 to 2020, I served as an Associate Professor.
No treatment is without risk. I have made mistakes along the way, and I am grateful to the teachers, teams and patients who have helped me learn from them.
I also give back through children's dental charity work, alongside colleagues and volunteers. It is a blessing to be able to help.
Case images will be de-identified, mouth-only and used with patient consent. No patient images are displayed yet. Clinical photographs will be cropped to teeth and gums inside the retractor, without lips, skin or background. Radiographs will have names, dates and other identifiers removed, retaining the L/R marker. Hidden image data will be stripped and files renamed. Images and text require consent checks and Droo’s approval before publication; identifying patient details will not be included.
These are stories about individual cases, not advice about anyone else’s care or instructions to follow. Each has its own circumstances and limits. Sharing a case does not remove privacy obligations or the need for local advertising-compliance review.
